Six Ensembles in Six Schools and a Kent connection with Igor Stravinsky

Music@Malling hosted a concert at St.George’s Church, Wrotham which features six ensembles from six schools. the concert was the culmination of a series of workshops led by Adam Mackenzie to develop ensemble playing in schools and to mentor teachers to enable them to compose with whole class groups and conduct ensembles. The project was based on Stravinsky – Three Pieces for String Quartet which was performed by Chamber Domaine. The second movement was inspired by Little Tich – a music hall performer who came from Kent and performed as a child in many of the local pubs. The concert was full of parents and families and each school performed a new piece composed in the workshops alongside the musicians of Chamber Domaine. Six Ensembles in Six Schools was organised and funded by Kent Music.
