Music@Malling are delighted to be working in partnership with The National Trust on a series of events that link historic buildings and collections with music.  The partnership launches in September at Ightham Mote with  concerts that feature the music of Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn on a piano associated with both composers which belonged to the distinguished Kent-born contralto, Mary Shaw who was a soloist at the Coronation of Queen Victoria in 1838 and premiered works by Mendelssohn, Verdi and Rossini. Her collection – including a stunning painting by Daniel Maclise – are held in Ightham Mote.

One of the concerts features rarely performed music by the 14th Century owner of Ightham, Sir William Haute in a fascinating concert of pre-reformation vocal music performed by The Marian Consort.
