The Music@Malling Scratch Orchestra – Launched in May 2022, this ensemble is held outstanding of school and brings young people of all ages and abilities to make music alongside professional musicians. In the style of the original 1969  Scratch Orchestra – established by Cornelius Cardew, Michael Parsons and Howard Skempton – young people and their families can work alongside top professional musicians – creating, re-creating and performing music.  From complete beginner to virtuoso, there is no experience needed to create amazing music.  Bring yourself, an instrument and get creative!!

“There are many groups where you can play football, but to have a scratch orchestra nearby is fantastic.  It is really important to meet other local children and see other children playing their instruments…It was wonderful.” Parent

“The group was so inclusive to all levels from complete novice upwards.  I felt this will inspire my daughter to love music as her curiosity for various instruments was embraced.” Parent
