World renowned guitarist Craig Ogden performs a fascinating programme of 20th century guitar music opening with an elegy by Cuban composer, Leo Brower in memory of his friend Tōru Takemitsu. 12 Songs by Takemitsu are ingenious arrangements of popular melodies by one of the most original voices of the 20th century – including Hey Jude, Yesterday, Londonderry Air and Over the Rainbow. Tippett – The Blue Guitar was composed for Julian Bream and is inspired by Picasso – The Man with the Blue Guitar. Enjoy this wonderful music in the stunning setting of All Saints’ Church, Tudeley with its evocative Marc Chagall stained glass windows – another link to 20th century creativity.
