Welcome to the fourth Music@Malling Festival – a festival that brings international artists to historical venues in and around West Malling, Kent.

The festival runs from Tuesday 23rd September through to Sunday 28th September. This year we commemorate the centenary of the onset of the First World War with moving music by Ravel and Elgar. JS Bach is a featured composer and will be heard in every programme, including a Bach Pilgrimage with concerts in the stunning churches of Birling, Addington and Trottiscliffe, along the Pilgrim's Way, on Saturday 27th September.

Each year, the festival presents contemporary music alongside the classics. In 2014, world-renowned composer HK Gruber will be introduced with six performances of his iconic ‘pan-demonium’ Frankenstein!!. These concerts will be the culmination of a groundbreaking outreach project involving hundreds of children in schools across Kent with English National Ballet and Chamber Domaine.

Other events include James Pearson, Artistic Director of London’s Ronnie Scotts, performing a set inspired by Bach and a tribute to Frank Sinatra – Close to You – with the Tippett Quartet, Matt Ford and the Ronnie Scotts Allstars. We celebrate Shakespeare in words and music with leading actor Peter Dyer from the Globe Theatre and outstanding baritone Jonathan McGovern. Prokofiev’s classic Peter and the Wolf will be performed in a family concert, and there will be chamber music with leading artists Steven Devine, Sacconi Quartet, Richard Harwood and Chamber Domaine.

Famous artist Graham Clarke returns with a new exhibition, Theatrickals, which runs through the festival. Talks and masterclasses will complement the performances.

The festival promises to be memorable and we look forward to sharing these special events with you in glorious local venues.
